OLLI Plus at SF State: "Understanding Antique Rugs"

Peter will share his knowledge of antique hand woven rugs from Persia, Turkey, The Caucasus and other countries in the region. He will also have interesting anecdotes from his 16 years of taping appraisals for PBS’s Antiques Roadshow.

About Our Speaker

Peter Pap has been dealing in antique for over 45 years. He is recognized internationally by collectors and connoisseurs, as one of the country’s foremost experts in antique rugs, carpets and tribal weavings. Having an established gallery in Dublin, New Hampshire, his West Coast showroom is presently in the Excelsior District on Mission Street in San Francisco. Additionally each year Peter participates in the Philadelphia Show and the San Francisco Fall Show. Peter has been a guest appraiser on PBS’s Antiques Roadshow for 16 seasons, and has been featured in publications including the New York Times, Elle Décor, GQ, The Wall Street Journal and House Beautiful. He also lectures extensively to museums, schools and collector societies.

About OLLI Plus at San Francisco State University

OLLI Plus is a premiere Interest Group at OLLI SF State; a membership in OLLI SF State is required to join. OLLI Plus offers on-campus lectures twice a month from September through July, each meeting is followed by social time with coffee and cookies.
