SF Adventures: SF Fire Dept. handmade Wooden Ladder Shop Tour
OLLI member and SF Fire Commission President Francee Covington has arranged a special tour of this rarely seen facility for OLLI members, who will have access as her guests. The SFFD is the only U.S. fire department that uses custom built, handcrafted wooden ladders, which are made in the Wooden Ladder Shop.
The Ladder Shop is in the Bayview District in an industrial area with other shops for the SFFD and SFPD. More information on the best way to access this site will be provided to those who sign up. Street parking will probably be available, as there is no parking on site. Car-pooling would be a good idea.
Participants will need to sign a release form and should plan to come a few minute early to complete the paperwork, etc. This is a true work environment, which can be dusty, etc. so dress accordingly, including wearing close-toed shoes, etc.
The tour is limited to 15 because of space constraints. Please check in by calling 415-817-4243 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org prior to coming.
