"Who's Afraid of Opera?"                                                                                      

Clifford "Kip" Cranna, Ph., D., San Francisco Opera 

Dr. Cranna is SF Opera's Dramaturg - the literary editor on the opera staff who consults with authors and edits texts. He plans to take us on a video journey to explore music's "grandest art" and will demonstrate how opera was born and how it became the pinnacle of Western musical drama. We will explore the evolution of Italian opera from baroque masterpieces to classic works.

Programs are held in the Rosa Parks Room which is on the lower level of the Cesar Chavez Student Center.

Meetings begin at 1:00 with a business meeting which is followed by the program at approximately 1:15 p.m.  Following the presentation is a short social time.
