SF Adventures - Internet Archive Tour

Friday, October 6, 2017 - 13:00

The Internet Archive is a 501(c)(3) non-profit library founded in 1996 with a  mission to provide Universal Access to All Knowledge. They collect published works and make them available in digital formats. They are building a public library that can serve anyone in the world with access to the Internet.

They began in 1996 by archiving the Internet itself because, like newspapers, the content published on the web was ephemeral - but unlike newspapers, no one was saving it. Today they have 20+ years of web history accessible through the Wayback Machine and work with 450+ library and other partners through their Archive-It program to identify important web pages.
