OLLI Hikers - Golden Gate Park

When: December 16, 2016 - 10:30am

Meet in front of the deYoung Museum

This 5 mile loop through the middle of Golden Gate Park will start and end at the entrance to the deYoung Museum.  Note the Andy Goldsworthy “Drawn Stone” art here; OLLI hiking regulars will have now seen all 5 of the Goldsworthy works in SF.  We’ll hike up to Stow Lake and walk along one side to JFK Dr. where we’ll walk under Crossover Dr. and head around Spreckel’s Lake, behind the Bison Paddock and around Chain of Lakes.  We’ll return by the Polo Field, walking above the Portals of the Past we visited last hike, and take JFK Dr. back to the deYoung. Those that choose can lunch at their excellent cafe (membership not needed for the cafe, sculpture garden or bathrooms).  There are also bathrooms & water fountains by Stow Lake Boathouse, and near Chain of Lakes. Very little elevation change. Will cancel if rain invades. It’s possible some trails might be a little muddy so dress accordingly.
