Tuesday, March 10, 2015 - 13:00 to 14:00

Learn about this exciting volunteer hands-on social justice project that is fulfilling needs of young (in their 20's and 30's) sexual minority refugees, asylum seekers, and asylees who are being resettled in the San Francisco Area.  These needs are not being met being met by governmental services.

Find out how you can help in one or more ways – and how Guardian Group clients may be able to help you around your home.

Galen Workman of the Guardian Group and Pete Tannen, an OLLI member and instructor, and Guardian Group Member, will talk about this group and its work, including practical support such as navigating governmental agency bureaucracies and finding ways to fill refugees’ needs.  More importantly, the Guardians are people that the refugees can rely on to give independent advice and to provide unconditional friendship.  Guardian members include members as well as non-members of the First Unitarian Universalist Society of San Francisco.
