Sixty Plus - Lecture: Mozart’s “Don Giovanni”–Exploring a Masterpiece

When: April 10, 2017 - 1:00pm

with Clifford, “Kip” Cranna, Ph.D.

From “Don Juan” to “Don Giovanni,” the Spanish legendary seducer with an outsized ego has been a fascinating character for centuries.  As San Francisco Opera prepares to remount this masterwork at the War Memorial Opera House in June, and in a FREE Simulcast at AT&T Park on June 30, join Kip Crenna, Dramaturg at the San Francisco Opera, as he uses video examples to explore in depth the background and music of Mozart’s smart and otherworldly take on this famous and flagrant hedonist.  As Dramaturg for the Opera, Kio deals with educational and outreach projects, commissions new operas, and provides musicological support to the staff.  He has served the company since 1979 and for over 30 years was Director of Music Administration.
